5 women open up about why they chose career over love

Why I chose career over love

Life is all about the choices we make. Whether you are a man or a woman, there might come a stage when the subtle balance between your work and personal or love life comes under a threat. Sometimes you may be forced to make a choice between career and love, other times you can have best of both worlds (yes, such is life). Although some might disagree, it becomes a little difficult for women as compared to men to make a choice, when they are at the crossroads of their career and love. Let’s read the responses of five women who chose career over love and why.

2/6

Career is my priority in the 20s

“I am in my mid-twenties, and I know this is the right time to build my career. I am using this time to figure out what I want from life, work hard on my skills, and make it big in the corporate world. I love what I do and don’t mind spending extra hours in the office every second day. I am not in any urgency or pressure to fall in love with someone, and am living a satisfying and happy life while being single.”

3/6

Financial stability matters

“I am trying to be financially secure before I get into a serious relationship or get married. No matter how much my future partner might love me or earn every month, I want to be independent enough to manage my own finances. In fact, I am focussing on saving some amount and starting my own business soon.”

4/6

I could not juggle love and career together

“I had a break up because I could not juggle my love and professional life together. My ex-partner was not happy with me being dedicated to my job. He had issues with me returning home late, not able to talk to him for hours every day and working occasionally on weekends. Obviously, I chose career over love and channelised all my energy into work after the break-up. I am doing quite well professionally and have no regrets for placing career over the relationship. I want a supportive partner who will never ask me to compromise on the work front.”

5/6

It’s for my better life

“I belong to a lower middle-class family and I have chosen career over everything else because I want to improve our standard of living. I love my job and want to climb up the corporate ladder. Presently, I want to chase my professional dreams rather than a guy.”

6/6

I am in love with my career and travel plans

“Being in love comes with expectations, commitment and demands that force you to give up a lot of your personal space. I am not willing to do that at any cost. My job lets me travel the world, explore different cultures and meet new people every single day. I love this freedom and have fallen in love with this life. My work is my passion and I am yet to find someone worthy enough to change my priorities.”
