Reasons why both boys and girls should play with dolls

When we were all children, we were given different toys based on our gender. Girls were given barbies and dolls whereas boys were the ones who played with hot wheels.

Boys were made fun of for playing with barbies and were ridiculed for enjoying make-believe games. But do you know that these games can help them develop emotional maturity, empathy, communication and problem-solving skills? Having access to varieties of toys irrespective of their gender is great for kids and protects them from a world that discriminates between genders. Here are some benefits you did not know that dolls had on your child:

2/5

Emotional maturity

Kids who grew up playing with dolls turned out to be respective, nice and understanding of the world around them. Kids tend to convert the world they live in to a smaller manageable world where they can experiment with everyday problems and learn how to deal with situations on their own level. They develop emotional maturity as they take care of the dolls, connect with them, and deal with the situations in their minds.

3/5

Social skills

Kids play with dolls with their friends and family. It is a great tool that can help them develop social skills and make them aware of how they can communicate with others. They learn how to interact with others and how to deal with things in the real world. These dolls are interactive in nature and encourage helping and sharing in the mind of your child. Your child will also learn how to take care of others.

4/5

Explore various hobbies

Different dolls usually come with different backstories. Your child learns about the different activities and hobbies that are waiting to be explored by your child. They have the liberty to explore these hobbies at a smaller scale and determine their likes and dislikes. It is good for their overall development to explore different fields and areas. They do not have to stick to one hobby rather explore a plethora of the activities out there.

5/5

Expands Imagination

Playing with dolls and make-belief games stimulates their imagination. You must’ve heard your child saying that their doll is sick and she will only be healed when they rescue the doll from the dragons. How do you think that they can come up with this story with just a doll? Dolls interact with their mind and encourage them to think about various situations and expand their imagination.
