Kids with high IQ have parents who do these 5 things differently

1/6

Parenting towards success

Parenting plays a crucial role in a child's cognitive development. Parents of children with high IQ often engage in specific strategies that promote intellectual growth. A high IQ is an indication of a child's potential for advanced learning and problem-solving abilities. While genetics and environmental factors both contribute to a child's intelligence, effective parenting practices can significantly influence a child's IQ. From a small pat on the back to high value rewards on doing well, certain practices help kids grow both intellectually and emotionally.

2/6

Stimulating environment and learning opportunities

Parents of children with high IQ recognize the importance of providing a stimulating environment early on. This encourages curiosity and fosters a love for learning. To start with, a rich variety of educational materials and experiences, ranging from books and educational toys to visits to museums and science centers helps in fostering a healthy relationship with learning.
Through reading and learning, parents encourage children to widen their horizons of knowledge and it serves as an excellent way to identify the child’s strength. Another way to increase a child's IQ is through hands-on learning experiences. Conducting science experiments or participating in educational workshops promote an early interest in STEM fields, which are often associated with higher IQ levels.

3/6

Encouragement and push towards the strengths

Supportive and encouraging parenting is vital in nurturing a child's intellectual potential. Parents of children with high IQ provide a nurturing environment where their children feel both comfortable as well as competitive while pursuing their interests. Parents celebrate their children's achievements, no matter how small, and provide constructive feedback to guide them toward continuous improvement.
For example, if the parent sees the child take interest as well as excel in the Space and science related topics, there will be a gentle push towards performing better in that arena. Along with pursuing better academically, the parents will make sure to make science fairs and museums an opportunity for both learning and fun.

4/6

Showing the child that hardwork pays

Parents of children with high IQ instill into them that shortcuts and cheat codes don't work in the long term. They instill the value of hard work and effort by demonstrating that achievements are earned through dedication. They emphasize that nothing comes easily or without effort, and shortcuts are not the path to reaching one's goals.
A rewarding step in this path is that the parents do well themselves and make sure that the children notice and learn from it. Parents with successful careers let the children know that hard work and smartwork help them climb the ladder and inculcate the same values into the kids.

5/6

Patience with questions

All humans and children especially are rather curious beings. As children grow, so do their horizons and thoughts. As they encounter new people and sights, the questions only grow till they are old enough to search for themselves.
One thing that parents who raise high IQ kids do is never say no to questions. They try to answer whatever questions and cross questions are fired at them and when they do not know about it or are not sure they ask for time. For example, if a child asks their parents how babies are born, many would shy away and tell them it is not their business. Parents who raise high IQ kids on the other hand try to break it down and answer the question in a way the child would understand.
Thus, it is important to address their questions and encourage learning through this way.

6/6

Encourage healthy competition and challenges

In a time where being stress-free is encouraged owing to the high number of bad mental health days people are experiencing, parents of kids with high IQ tend to promote challenges and competitions in the little ways possible. Something as trivial as making the bed before the sibling can inculcate a sense of healthy competition. Rewarding the kid who made the bed first with two toffees and the other with just one can promote competition with rewards. This competition will over time switch to academics or extracurriculars and help them in maintaining their form with the reward being excellence in life.
