The pandemic has been challenging for all single parents

Besides all the unprecedented challenges posed by the pandemic, parents have had a difficult time keeping themselves and their children safe from the virus while also maintaining their sanity amid all the chaos.

That said, when it comes to single parents, there is no doubt that they were hit the hardest when it comes to parenting in times of a pandemic. Having no one to share the responsibilities with might have been extremely overwhelming and daunting, sometimes even leading to hopelessness and a lot of anxiety.

The fear of the virus along with the insecurity of not doing enough for one's child can be extremely taxing, which is why we bring to you some self care tips that can help you get through these troubled times.

2/5

Listen to your state of mind

Parental burnout is real and as much as we try and neglect it, it becomes all the more problematic. Single parents have to take on the role of both a mother and a father and at times it can become extremely exhausting.

As a single parent, you may have to put extra effort in raising your kids, but doing so will take a heavy toll on your mind. From managing your child's education to bringing them up with proper values to raising them healthy and sound, it all may demand a lot from you. Therefore, in the process of becoming the best parent ever, you also need to listen to your state of mind, your needs and your wishes. Do not ignore them or you will slowly despise the beauty of it all.

3/5

Ask for help

Never hesitate to ask for any help. Given that you're a single parent and have no partner to rely on, you must always ask your loved ones for help. Whether you're struggling financially, emotionally or are finding it hard to make time for yourself, asking a friend for help will only help you through it all. Acknowledge your mental state and share your trials and tribulations. This will only ease your mind.

4/5

Acknowledge your efforts and be kind to yourself

Every parent, at some point in their lives feels like they haven't done enough. As a single parent, you may feel it more strongly, given you cannot cover everything. However, rather than focusing on the guilt, appreciate what you have done for your child. Acknowledge your efforts and don't give yourself a hard time. This pandemic has been hard on all of us and blaming yourself for not being enough is just wrong.

5/5

Pamper your body and your mind

While taking care of your child and their anxiety during this pandemic, do not forget to take care of your own body and mind. Invest in regular health check ups and be mindful of your own mental state. Eat healthy and treat your body right. Perform exercises and yoga to calm your nerves in times of anxiety and also give yourself some alone time.

Anxiety and stress has been a major issue during this pandemic and tackling it should be prioritized. Since a single parent has to put double the efforts in raising a child, practicing self care is of utmost importance and should not be neglected.
