From fitness to confidence: Why kids should be encouraged to pick up sports

With more and more buildings being built, less of playgrounds and a world where, phone and TV screens have taken place, outdoor activities are almost becoming obscure. With screens constantly competing for children’s attention, it has become of utmost important to encourage kids to take up a sport.

2/6

Building confident individuals

Sports shouldn’t be seen as terms of competitiveness or winning medals or becoming professional athletes, but they have a powerful effect on a child’s growth. It helps children grow into confident, disciplined, and well-rounded individuals.

3/6

Building lifelong habits

Getting kids involved into sports become a lifelong habit with takes care of their physical fitness. In schools, physical activities are introduced early on and it should not be restricted to that. Parents should also encourage kids to take up sports at home. They should be encouraged to step out of the house and engage with other people. It builds and boosts confidence, interactions with other individuals and also reduces the risk of lifestyle-related issues later in life.

4/6

Staying away from screens

It helps them stay active physically and away from screens for longer period. Playing sports establishes lifelong habits and it is also a way of self-care. Sports is something they can call of their own like self care. It’s something they can go-to without the involvement of parents.

5/6

Importance of sports

By picking up a sport, kids build strength, stamina, coordination and flexibility. When they discover a sport they genuinely love and enjoy, they continue to pursue it even when they grow older. It teaches them valuable life lessons, which are just not restricted to playground.

6/6

Helps in decision making

It teaches them decision making, ability to handle setbacks and also set goals to improve at the game. They’ll have something to look forward to step out after school and not just stay at home and glued to screens. It also helps in building life-long friendships.
