Fruits you can easily grow on your balcony: A simple guide to fresh homegrown produce

It is possible to cultivate fruits without having to have a garden. By giving proper attention, fruits such as strawberry, lemon, and even guava can be cultivated using a small space like your own balcony. Growing fruits on your balcony is a great idea as it provides you with the luxury of having fresh produce without the use of chemicals. Here's a look:

2/8

Guava

The dwarf type of guava fruit plant fits well in balconies since it does not grow tall. It requires a deep pot with nutrient-filled soils and abundant sunlight for growing. The plants yield fruits when well taken care of.

3/8

Cherry Tomatoes

One of the best balcony plants that you can consider growing is cherry tomatoes. These can be easily taken care of and require only minimal effort to flourish. You need to keep them in medium pots and provide them with support. With adequate sun exposure and water, they produce an abundance of tasty and colorful tomatoes.

4/8

Banana

There are dwarf varieties of bananas that can actually do well if grown on a balcony garden. Banana trees require a large-sized container, plenty of sunlight, and regular watering. However, just like papayas, bananas need some time and space too.

5/8

Pomegranate

The pomegranate plant makes another great choice for balcony gardening. The plant requires sunlight and water to thrive in its environment. Not only does the plant have several health benefits as it produces nutritious fruit, but also the blossoms make the balcony more attractive.

6/8

Lemon

The lemon tree grows well in pots and containers. Its dwarf type easily fits in balconies and needs a larger pot for growth, proper drainage, and sunlight. When cared for by regular watering and fertilisation, the lemon fruit plants bear fruits throughout the year and provide a fresh aroma in your balcony garden.

7/8

Strawberry

Strawberries are among the most suitable fruits for cultivation in balconies and gardens, particularly in pots and hanging baskets. It grows best in fertile soils with proper drainage and receives approximately five-six hours of sunlight every day. After regular watering and occasional fertilisation, the plant bears succulent berries after a few weeks of planting.

8/8

Papaya

If you have selected the dwarf type of papaya, then it can be planted in a pot too. It would grow in a sunny location and in well-drained soil. Even though it will take a little extra care for watering and space, still a papaya plant is quite fast-growing as compared to other fruit plants.
