7 easy-to-grow herbal teas for your home garden

Growing your own herbal teas at home is a very easy and rewarding experience since you get to make healthy, organic drinks as well as add some greenery to your living spaces. Most of the herbs required for preparing herbal tea can be grown easily indoors in pots on balconies, or even in gardens with minimal maintenance required. Here are some of the herbal teas which you can grow at home:

2/8

Mint

Mint is one of the easiest herbs to grow and does quite well when kept in pots. It needs moisture-retentive soil and plenty of sunlight. Mint leaves are excellent for making a relaxing drink, especially for digestion issues and nausea.

3/8

Tulsi (Holy Basil)

Tulsi is a staple in Indian homes and grows well in sunny spots with well-drained soil. Tulsi is also a sacred plant in India, valued both for its medicinal benefits and deep religious significance. It is known for boosting immunity, reducing stress and supporting respiratory health. Fresh leaves can be boiled directly for tea, offering both medicinal and aromatic benefits.

4/8

Chamomile

This delicate flowering herb's cultivation can easily start from seeds. Chamomile tea, made from the flowers, offers calming effects and promotes good sleep. The plant thrives even in small spaces, making it easy to grow in a home garden.

5/8

Lemongrass

Lemongrass requires ample sunshine and water to thrive in sunny and warm climates. It possesses a distinct citrus scent and is an excellent anti-inflammatory and digestive aid. Lemongrass stems can be used to prepare tea.

6/8

Ginger

Ginger can be grown indoors or outdoors using rhizomes in well-drained soil. It requires warmth and moderate watering. Ginger tea is widely valued for its anti-inflammatory properties and its ability to relieve nausea and improve digestion, making it a popular home remedy.

7/8

Lavender

Lavender grows best in well-drained soil with full sunlight. Its fragrant flowers are used to make a calming tea that helps reduce stress and anxiety. Though it needs slightly more care than other herbs. It adds both beauty and wellness value to your home garden.

8/8

Lemon Balm

Lemon balm is a hardy herb from the mint family and grows easily in containers. It has a mild lemony flavour and is known for reducing stress and improving mood. Regular trimming helps maintain its growth and ensures a steady supply for tea preparation.

Growing herbal teas at home is cost-effective and promotes a healthier lifestyle by providing access to fresh and natural ingredients.
