5 plants you should NEVER place near the main door as per Vastu and why

Our home’s main entrance is far more than just a doorway. The entrance is considered the main channel through which energies also enter our home, be it positive or negative. Therefore it is important for us to know what things bring positivity through the entrance. From nameplates to plants, everything has an important role in shaping the home’s energy. While Vastu always encourages greenery, not all plants are suggested for placement near the entrance. There are some plants which are said to block positive energy and attract negativity when placed at the main door.

Understand that your main door is the face of your home. It is the gateway for prosperity, positivity, health, and happiness. What you place here, brings the energy associated with it. While plants are great for positive energy, choosing the wrong ones may unknowingly invite negativity. By avoiding placing thorny, dead, or plastic plants near your entrance, you can create a positive environment.

On this note, let’s have a look at five plants you should avoid keeping near your home’s entrance, as per Vastu.

2/6

Cactus or any other thorny plants

Though cactus are low maintenance plants, these are not suggested by Vastu to be placed near home’s entrance. These are considered highly unsuitable as thorny plants are believed to bring in aggressive energy which disrupts a home’s peace and harmony. Placing a cactus close to the main door is believed to invite stress and conflicts along with financial issues. The sharp thorns symbolise emotional discomfort, which can negatively affect relationships among family members. If you love cacti, keep them away in less-used outdoor areas away from your living and happy spaces.

3/6

Bonsai Plants

Though bonsai plants hold immense significance and are loved for their artistic beauty, these as per Vastu should not be kept near the home entrance as these carry an unfavorable symbolic meaning. It is said that bonsai plants are intentionally stunted in growth. So they kind of represent restricted progress which might bring obstacles in personal growth or career advancement.

4/6

Milky Sap Plants

Vastu also discourages plants that release milky or sticky sap to place near the main entrance. As per Vastu, such plants are associated with discomfort and toxicity. When placed near the door, these plants are believed to create all kinds of disturbances in the house. Some of these plants may also be mildly toxic, and are suggested unsuitable for kids and pets.

5/6

cotton plant

Cotton plants are extremely pretty, but Vastu doesn’t recommend placing it near the home’s main entrance. The reason behind this would be because of cotton's connection with poverty and financial strain as per traditional beliefs. A cotton plant near the main door is said to obstruct wealth energies.

6/6

Dead, Dried, or Artificial Plants

Never place dead or dried or artificial plastic plants near the entrance. These carry negative energy as per Vastu and are believed to block the flow of new opportunities. Artificial plants are appealing to look at but are discouraged near the main door because they are lifeless and don’t attract positivity.
