Importance of eye health

Eyes are our windows to the outside world. If our eyes fail, the world will seem dark. They are also the most fragile sense organs and need particular caution and care. Ayurvedic medications and treatments can permanently correct and improve vision. Ayurveda recommends an all-natural, holistic approach to eye care. Here are some crucial ayurvedic solutions to enhance your vision.

2/8

Amla

One of the best providers of vitamin C, antioxidants, and several other nutrients is the Indian gooseberry (Amla). It is useful to strengthen retinal functionality. Mixing 2 to 5 tablespoons of amla juice daily with warm water will help recover visual problems. For clear eyesight and healthy eyes, daily consumption is advised

3/8

Almonds, black pepper and honey

Those who have poor vision will benefit greatly from this mixture. In the morning, take 4–5 soaked almonds with 2–4 crushed black pepper and a glass of warm milk. It is one of the best medications for enhancing vision.

4/8

Netra-Dhawan (Triphala eye wash)

“Regularly, twice a day, wash your eyes with Triphala water. Triphala eyewash is incredibly effective at treating eye conditions and preserving eyesight. Dry eyes, computer vision syndrome, cataracts, age-related macular degeneration, conjunctivitis, and glaucoma can all be avoided with this treatment” says Dr. Mandeep Singh Basu, eye specialist, CEO, Jagat Pharma.

Mix one teaspoon of boiled water with the Triphala powder. The hot water activates the compounds in Triphala. Give the mixture time to cool completely. Now filter the mixture using a delicate fabric to remove any coarse particles that can irritate the eyes. Blink a few times while dipping your eyes in the Triphala water with which you have filled your eyecups. For at least a minute, keep doing this. After this treatment, wipe the areas surrounding your eyes without rinsing them. The optimal time is right before bed because it helps the eyes get enough rest and relaxation.

5/8

Padabhyanga

Make sure to frequently massage your feet with cow ghee (desi cow ghee) before bed. The practice of padabhyanga encourages good hearing and vision.

6/8

Nasyam

Dr. Basu advises, “Put two drops of cow ghee (desi cow ghee) in both nostrils once a day, preferably in the daytime.”

7/8

Tratak karma

Tratak Karma is a meditation posture in front of a candle in a dark room, or gazing at a point for a short period will help your eyesight. According to ancient Ayurvedic writings, the tratak procedure is particularly beneficial in treating various eye issues by reducing dullness and a sluggish demeanour.

Exercise of the eyes before beginning the tratak treatment is recommended to drive the best results. The eyeball should move simultaneously up and down and towards the left and right. Eyes should be cleansed with rosewater or Triphala water following the tratak procedure. If tears start to fall while performing the tratak treatment, stop it at that moment but try it again the following day.

8/8

Aahar (Diet)

Ayurveda advocates a natural aahar (diet), emphasising the exclusion of processed, genetically altered, and chemical-based foods from the diet. For good eyes and vision, a diet high in fibre and containing lots of fruits and vegetables such as spinach, fenugreek leaves, saag, and bathua. Additionally, avoid regular table salt and switch to rock salt or Sendha salt in your diet.
