Turmeric

No Indian dish is complete without a pinch of turmeric. This yellow spice holds both medicinal and religious significance in Indian households. Turmeric has weight management properties. Turmeric increases body metabolism which is a good sign for those intending to lose weight. It is also a good source of antioxidants which again makes it an ideal candidate for weight loss.

There are several ways you can up your turmeric consumption apart from having it from your daily meal. You can have warm water with turmeric and black pepper added to it. You can also add this to a glass of milk and have it before going to bed.

The use of cumin water for weight loss is not unknown. Cumin is widely used in Indian dishes as a tempering element.

Cumin has metabolism inducing elements which aid digestion as well. Cumin is known to prevent bloating and gas formation in the guts.

Black pepper is one of the many spices which is native to India. Black pepper is native to the Malabar Coast of India and is one of the earliest spices known.

Due to its unique taste which is similar to that of chilli, black pepper is always seen as a fat burning spice.

As per a research study, the piperine element found in black pepper interferes with the activity of genes responsible for forming new fat cells. The study says this sets a chain reaction that keeps a check on the formation of fat in the body.

The luxury smelling herb, Cinnamon, has a big role in weight management. Cinnamon balances blood sugar level and keeps the body full. It curbs cravings and hunger pangs and in a way stops you from unnecessary unmindful munchings.

There are various ways you can have cinnamon. You can add it to your tea, or have it with your pancake. You can also chew a small piece of a Cinnamon; it is sweet in taste and has got a taste kick of its own.

For many people in India the day begins with a hot steaming cup of ginger tea. Ginger stimulates digestion and suppresses appetite; the two most important biological activities absolutely necessary for weight loss.

Ginger also contains antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory effects.

Various studies have confirmed that regular consumption of ginger reduces hunger feelings and increases thermogenesis, or heat production from calorie burning.

While these herbs work for weight loss, there are certain other factors that need to be taken into consideration. For effective weight loss and proper weight management one should include physical activity.
