THIS is how sex will change in your 50s

How sex will change in your 50s

Is sex always hot and sizzling? Certainly, not! Sex after the age of 50, when you are in the menopause phase is not the way you expect it to be - steamy and heart pumping. Not only physically but sex after the age of 50 is a different experience mentally as well.

But if you are heading towards or are already in menopause, that does not mean you need to give up on your sex life. Here in this article, we tell you what to expect about having sex after 50 and how to deal with it so as to make it better.

2/7

Vaginal dryness

One classic symptom of menopause is vaginal dryness and the irony is that due to the hot flashes, all your pores are sweating except the ones down there.

Vaginal dryness happens because the body stops producing estrogen or produces very little of it. And it’s estrogen that keeps your vagina lubricated. Vaginal dryness increases with age leading to painful sex.

3/7

How to deal with it?

The best way to deal with it is by having sex. The lack of estrogen affects pelvic blood flow and having sex stimulates it. This, by rejuvenating the cells, you help create more moisture in the area. You can even use lubricants and vaginal moisturizers.

4/7

Libido changes

It’s not always for worse, some women have a higher sex drive in their 50s. Women during the pre-menopausal time have a higher testosterone level, which results in higher libido. Though it is normal for some women to experience quite the opposite. If you fall in the second lot, then solve the symptom that is causing the problem. Like vaginal dryness can lead to decreased libido and now you know how to deal with it.

You can try new methods and ways to make things steamy between you and your partner as repeating the same thing the same way for 30 – 40 years can be boring.

5/7

Lesser distractions

No periods anymore and thus no fear of getting pregnant. For many women, it’s not comfortable to have sex while they are menstruating. And, by 50 life is pretty much settled. You don’t have to worry about your kids and freedom from cramps is an additional benefit.

6/7

You experiment more

Because the chemistry between you and your partner is close to perfect, you are not scared of trying new things. True that sex can become boring after being with the same person for so long but you can take this as an inspiration to try new things.

7/7

You may feel different about your body

A woman’s body goes through a lot during the menopause phase, which can make them feel sexier or otherwise. The women who fall in the second lot lose their self-confidence. But this should not be the case, it’s not just you but also your partner who is ageing with you. Feeling less attracted towards each other is normal after still being madly in love with each other.

Taking care of one’s health, eating right and being physically active are a few things that can make things better for both.
