Are you suffering from back pain due to Kidney?

Considering the stressful and poor lifestyles most people lead these days, suffering from back pain has become a common issue. However, did you know that there are different reasons for the same issue? Not all back pain are due to poor posture— in fact, sometimes, what feels like a muscle strain may actually be a signal from your kidneys! While most back pain is caused by posture issues, injuries, or muscular problems, kidney-related pain has a distinct pattern and can signal serious health issues like infections, stones, or inflammation. Knowing the difference is important for early detection and treatment. Here we list three ways to tell if your back pain might be linked to your kidneys:

2/7

The pain is deep, dull, and only on one side

Kidney pain generally occurs deep in the back, just below the ribcage. Also, it usually affects only on one side and it is constant, dull, and more internal. However, muscular back pain, feels like soreness or stiffness and it changes with movement. Also, kidney pain often doesn't improve with rest, massage, or stretching. This kind of pain can be due to a kidney infection, stone, or inflammation like pyelonephritis.

3/7

Along with the back pain, you also have fever, nausea, or burning urine

When back pain is accompanied by urinary symptoms— like frequent urges to urinate, burning sensation, cloudy or foul-smelling urine—then it is a major red flag and should not be ignored. If you are also suffering from fever, chills, or nausea along with the pain, then it may be due to a urinary tract infection (UTI) that has reached the kidneys or kidney stones. Do not ignore these major symptoms as it can worsen with time. Instead, consult your doctor immediately.

4/7

The pain is dull and persistent, and it does not improve with movement or rest

Muscle-related back pain often reduces when you change positions, stretch, or apply heat. On the contrary, kidney pain remains constant regardless of your posture or how much you rest. If your pain persists through the night or isn't eased by over-the-counter muscle relaxants or painkillers, then it could indicate towards a kidney-related issue.
