COVID symptoms that may arise post vaccination

The second wave of coronavirus has taken a heavy toll on India's population. While the majority of the masses are eligible for the vaccination, the shortage of vaccine jabs are only making it difficult for everyone to acquire protection against the virus. However, for those of you who have got their jabs, it is important that you continue following all safety protocols.

According to experts, you may still be prone to COVID infection even after getting your vaccines. They also suggest that the symptoms may differ from the most common signs of coronavirus infections.

How important is it to get your COVID vaccination?

As of now, COVID vaccines are the only means of protection from the virus. Irrespective of whether you're young and healthy or fall under the category of the most vulnerable, the second wave of coronavirus has affected almost everyone who has come in contact with it. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that you get your vaccine jabs, whenever you find or get hold of a slot.

Can you get COVID-19 infections post vaccination?

While vaccines are our only shot against the virus, it does not mean that you cannot get infected. According to a study conducted at King's College London, it has been found that people may still get infected by the virus, following a vaccine jab. However, the experts reveal that the number of such cases are small.

The study looked at the data collected from the ZOE Covid symptoms app. Of 1.1 million app users, who had already had their first dose, 0.2 per cent reported positive cases of COVID-19. That said, of those who had received both doses of the vaccine, 0.03 per cent tested positive.

The study also found that almost 70 per cent and 55 per cent of the participants were less likely to develop a fever and fatigue as compared to those who were not vaccinated, respectively.

As per the research, there are four symptoms of COVID that people should be aware of post vaccination, which can vary from the most common COVID symptoms listed by health organisations.

In the study, breathlessness has been identified as a symptom in COVID vaccinated people. It is the condition where patients find it difficult to catch their breath and fully get air into their lungs.

Apart from that, earache, swollen glands and sneezing have been found as some of the new and common COVID symptoms in vaccinated individuals. As far as sneezing is concerned, scientists found that it was 24 per cent more common in people under the age of 60, who have received their vaccine jab.
