Harvard doctor on why THIS powerful ingredient must be added to the morning coffee everyday

A lot of us start our day with a hot cup of coffee, or the good old chai. While experts say that one should not have tea or coffee on any empty stomach ever, a lot of people are unable to start a routine without their daily cuppa of hot beverage. However, do you know that a small tweak in your morning coffee can boost your health in several ways? Yes, we are talking about Psyllium husk. Dr. Trisha Pasricha, a gastroenterologist at Harvard Medical School, in an interview with The Washington Post, recommended adding a spoonful of Psyllium husk to coffee or even water in the morning. Here are 5 reasons why...

2/6

Healthy digestion

Psyllium husk is a soluble fiber that absorbs water and forms a gel-like substance in your digestive tract. This helps to soften stool and promote regular bowel movements. Adding psyllium to your coffee can prevent constipation, and improve gut health by feeding the good bacteria in your intestines.
Because coffee itself can sometimes irritate the stomach (especially on an empty stomach) or cause loose stools in sensitive people, combining it with psyllium husk balances the effect by regulating digestion. This means you can enjoy your coffee without worrying about digestive discomfort.

3/6

Controls blood sugar levels

One of the benefits of psyllium husk is its ability to slow down the absorption of sugar from food. When you add it to your coffee, psyllium helps reduce blood sugar spikes after meals. This is especially helpful for people with diabetes, prediabetes or those trying to manage their blood sugar.
The fiber in psyllium forms a barrier in the gut that slows digestion, allowing sugar to enter the bloodstream more gradually. (and slowly) This can lead to better energy levels throughout the day and reduce cravings.

4/6

Good for the heart

Psyllium husk is known to help lower cholesterol levels, which is good news for your heart. The soluble fiber binds to cholesterol in the digestive system and helps remove it from the body. Regular intake of psyllium has been linked to reduced LDL (bad) cholesterol and overall improved heart health.
Adding psyllium to your morning coffee is an easy way to include heart-friendly fiber in your diet. Combined with the antioxidants in coffee, this mix supports your cardiovascular system and reduces the risk of heart disease.

5/6

Helps in weight management

If you are trying to lose or maintain weight, psyllium husk can actually help. Because it absorbs water and expands in the stomach, it creates a feeling of fullness. This can reduce hunger pangs and prevent overeating later in the day.
Mixing psyllium husk into your coffee in the morning helps you feel satiated for longer, making it easier to control portion sizes and avoid unnecessary snacking. This natural appetite control supports healthy weight management without the need for strict dieting.

6/6

Quick and easy

One of the best things about psyllium husk is how simple it is to include in your daily life. Just stir a teaspoon of psyllium husk powder into your morning coffee. It thickens the drink slightly but does not change the taste much.
Because it is tasteless and blends well, you can add psyllium to any hot beverage or even smoothies. This makes it easier to get the benefits of fiber without changing your diet drastically.

Which are the benefits of moringa plant? I like very much your comments about health, especially all related to liver disease, since it is supposed that there is not a real solution for this disease when it is discovered just when it is in grade 4th, just when is too late for patients.
