Weight loss: The dance styles which burn maximum calories

For a lot of people exercising isn’t just a medium of staying fit and healthy but is actually an inseparable part of their lifestyle. However, as we all scramble to stay safe indoors and practise social distancing, it doesn’t spell good news for those who love to sweat it out in the gym or need a grilling work out to begin their day.

We understand that staying cooped up in our houses as we struggle to maintain our sanity isn’t exactly an ideal scenario to get up and get moving. However, it is important to understand that between juggling our office and work, we do need to take out some time every day to work out. It will not only prevent lethargy from creeping in our schedule in but is also essential to stay fit and healthy.

Dance your way to weight loss

What if we told you that there an exciting way to stay fit from home which doesn’t require lifting weights, your regular gymming equipments or even venturing outdoors? Yes, you can actually burn calories at home and have fun while you are at it. We suggest getting in the groove and dancing like there is no tomorrow (no pun intended).

To make things easier for you, we list down different dance style which will help you burn maximum calories from the comfort of your home.

3/6

Zumba

There is a reason why Zuma dances are being increasingly incorporated in all the fitness sessions across gyms and fitness centres. This dance style is a complete cardiovascular workout on its own given you have an hour to spare. It is a type of fast dancing and will help in burning around 445-500 calories in 60 minutes depending on your weight. If you cannot spend an hour dancing, you can break it into 15-minutes sessions throughout the day.

4/6

Cha-cha

If you want to get rid of the stubborn belly fat, we suggest including an hour of Cha-cha dance in your daily routine. This Latin dance form involves quick movements of every part of your body (arms, hips, legs and waist) and will serve as a rigorous work out when done correctly. A 60-minute session of Cha-cha can help you shed as much as 500 calories, depending on your weight.

5/6

Belly dancing

Want to show off those washboard abs as soon as the lockdown is over? In addition to watching your diet, acing belly dancing will ensure that your tummy stays toned. For the uninitiated, belly dancing can easily be incorporated into your daily workout routine as it helps in toning your muscles and improve your muscle coordination.

6/6

Salsa

If you want to seriously work your core, Salsa should be your pick as it involves fast spins, moves and quick footwork. Depending on your weight, you can easily burn around 400-500 calories in an hour of Salsa dancing session. Thanks to its spins, twists and turns, it also makes for a great substitute for your regular cardio workout.
