Strength training vs weight lifting

A good and balanced workout regime is composed of cardiovascular exercises and weight training exercises. While cardio helps build stamina, endurance and lose weight by burning calories, weight training helps build and strengthen muscles by using weights. Strength training is another great way to improve muscles strength and endurance. Since both weight training and strength training build muscle, develop strength and increase fitness levels, most people might find themselves confused between the two.

Strength training is an umbrella term which is used to refer to any kind of training that helps build strength. Use of equipment like swiss balls, benches and ropes is done in strength training. Strength training involves multiple types of training like using resistance bands or weights or other equipment. It can also be performed without using any sort of equipment.

The two categories include free weights and machines and both can be used to train specific muscles or can also be used in general ways for working out. Dumbbells, barbells and benches are examples of free weights that can be used to perform weight training. Machines like assisted pull -up station and cable machine are used for weight training.
