Easy ways to burn calories

When it comes to getting fitter and busting calories, every little move counts. If you are focussed on staying in shape, you have got to watch what you eat and move around as much as you can - and no, the 21-day coronavirus lockdown period doesn't count as an excuse.

While there are a lot of home workout videos and guides available, it can get a little tricky navigating through them, especially if you are somewhat a beginner.

Here are five out-of-the-box calorie busting ways to try!

2/6

Got a call? Move around

With a smartphone in your hand, the best way is to use it to your benefit. It's almost natural that during these lockdown days, phones are the only way to keep up with your friends, family or colleagues. Here's a fun suggestion. Every time you get a call-simply get up and move around. The more you walk around, the more physically active you would be through the day.

3/6

Have kids at home? Play with them

Childcare, even though exhausting keeps you active. Ask any parent! If you have little ones around the house, play around and spend some time with them. It makes for one fun activity as well. However, make sure you follow guidelines and maintain good distance around them.

4/6

Perform home chores

If you thought to be physically active meant just spending hours outside the home, think again. In some smart ways, you can make your everyday chores into fat-busting activities! Yes, just doing simple household chores or tasks can double up as calorie busting moves and in this way, help you lose weight. Studies say that doing strenuous chores like mopping, cleaning the house or rearranging furniture is equivalent to 15-20 minutes of running on the treadmill.

5/6

Practice yoga and meditation

One of the easiest ways of practising self-care, meditating or spending time doing yoga is one of the best (and cheap) ways of detoxing your body. Regular yoga practice can also strengthen your immunity, centre your mind and energize you. Meditation can help you focus better and clear away negative energies and anxiety, which is neccessary during this time.

6/6

Stair workout

If you can't go to the gym and bust some cardio moves, fret not. The stairs in and around your home or the building can work just fine. Bollywood's fittest mama, Shilpa Shetty advocated a fun stair workout which anybody can do! You can easily incorporate this into your schedule, challenge yourself and burn some calories as you go. Just make sure the stairs are sanitized and you are good to go.
