Have you been consuming milk and banana together? You must read this

We all love having milkshakes and smoothies, don't we? The blend of milk with our favourite fruit and some ice cubes makes for a perfect summer drink.

Easy to make and tasty at the same time, banana shake is one of the favourite beverages of many. While it may taste amazing, milk and banana when blended together do not make for a good combination.. Yes, you read that right. Here is what you need to know about consuming the combination together.

2/4

Banana milk combination

People who are trying to gain weight are often suggested to have banana and milk together. While many think that the combination is an excellent one, experts have to say otherwise.

Experts say, even if you want to consume milk and banana together, you can first take milk and wait for 20 minutes before having a banana. Banana milkshake hinders digestion and disrupts sleep.

The combination is not recommended for people who have allergies like asthma as it creates mucus that can lead to breathing issues.

3/4

Ayurveda's take

As per Ayurveda, milk and banana come under the list of most incompatible foods. When consumed together, the food combination can diminish the agni (digestive fire), produce toxins and can cause sinus congestion, cough, cold and allergies.

In Ayurveda, banana and milk together are termed as Viruddh Aahar (incompatible combinations). The combination creates ama (toxins), which can cause an imbalance in the body. It also disrupts the intestinal flora. It has a negative reaction on the body, generates additional water, blocks body channels, can cause vomiting, loose motion and even lead to heart disease.

4/4

Verdict

Banana and milk do not go well together and may cause some serious health issues. Thus, it's better to avoid blending the two together and best to consume them separately in a time gap of 20 minutes at least.

Both the foods have their own properties that benefit us in various ways only when consuming separately.
