Optical illusions are known to trick the mind

Optical illusions are known to trick the mind. What we see is often not what exactly is shown to us and sometimes even if something is there before our eyes we are unable to see it. We are so used to the conditioning of the brain that we do not tend to look beyond that. Only when we observe properly, giving more time to it, does it appear to us.

In this image, there are 13 faces hidden. While at first glance, it looks like the face of an old man, if one looks closely there are several images hidden in this image. Try to find out the hidden faces, and then check with the answers given below:

2/10

The two men on the horse

There are two men sitting on the horse. These men, who look like warriors and seem to be old are carrying weapons which indicates they are most probably heading for a battle. Another interpretation is that these men might be sentries.

3/10

The faces on the rock

These two faces on the rocks are easily visible. Both these faces are carved on the rock and can be seen right next to the hoofs of the horse.

4/10

The two faces in the sky

The blue sky is one of the most distinguishable elements in the image. If you are someone who looks beyond the obvious, then you can see two faces in the sky right next to the building structure.

5/10

The ferocious faces

These two faces on the opposite sides of the horse and carved in the wall seems to be of two ferocious animals.

6/10

The one that's grinning at you!

On the extreme right side of the image just above the rock, there is a face that's grinning at you. How do we know if it's grinning? The teeth are visible; how else does someone grin!

7/10

The two faces to the left

To the extreme left are two faces seemingly tensed. One face lies to the left side of the face carved in the rock and the other one lies just above it. Couldn't find it? Focus just below the shoe of the horseman.

8/10

The lone one!

There is a single face just below the rear end of the horse. The face seems to be looking towards the horse.

9/10

The face of the old man

This is easy to find. The entire image has been artistically designed to make it look like the face of an old man. While the neck collars of the attire worn by the men form the eyes of the man, their hats from the old man's eyebrows. The face of the horse forms the mouth of the old man.

10/10

Optical illusions

Optical illusions are often seen as a test of personality or characteristic of an individual. Though the claims have less scientific backing, these often have a psychological support.

The fact that these illusions appear differently to different people might be the reason why people consider it for psychological analysis.

Keeping all these aside, optical illusions are fun to interpret. It can be a fun game and analysed in a group. There are several optical illusions where the painters or the creators have artistically blended in several elements into one picture which only becomes distinct when one looks at it carefully.
