Anand Mahindra reveals his daily regime that keeps him fit at 70; ‘I’m no fitness guru but I rotate my routine....."

Anand Mahindra, the billionaire businessman, is not only known for his warm hearted kindness and hospitality, but also his down to earth demeanour, that he frequently displays on social media. Mahindra, 70 is also remarkably fit for his age, that he credits to a mindful routine, exercise (for both body and mind), and consistency. In post on X (formerly Twitter) in Jan, the business honcho, when asked about his fitness routine wrote,“ I’m no fitness guru but I rotate my weekly fitness routine between cardio-vascular (swimming/ellipticals) muscle tone (working out with weights) & stretching (Yoga). However, most important part of daily health routine is 20 min meditation every morning…” Let’s dig deeper

2/8

A rotating weekly fitness schedule

Anand Mahindra does different workouts throughout his week, which includes swimming, elliptical training for cardiovascular exercise and weightlifting, muscle development and yoga, and stretching for flexibility improvement. The fitness schedule he follows protects his heart health while building muscle strength, and maintaining joint flexibility. Physical health experts support varied exercise programs because they help prevent injuries, and maintain balance in older adults. The balanced fitness schedule he follows every week, enables Mahindra to maintain his fitness level even at 70 years old.

3/8

Strength training to counter aging effects

Weightlifting and resistance exercises form essential components of Mahindra's fitness program. The natural process of aging leads to muscle mass reduction and bone density decrease, which raises the chances of falls and frailty in older adults, when they do not do muscle-strengthening exercises. According to fitness experts, older adults who exercise with weights two to four times per week, will maintain their independence and mental clarity. Weight training according to his age, enables Mahindra to build enduring physical strength and vitality.

4/8

Cardiovascular workouts for heart health

Mahindra takes part in swimming and elliptical training for his cardio exercises, because these exercises deliver low-impact joint-friendly exercise that strengthens heart and lung function. People who do cardiovascular exercises regularly, can reduce their heart disease risk while developing their endurance capabilities. The recommended cardiovascular exercise schedule for older adults is three to five sessions per week at a steady intensity, to support heart health.

5/8

Yoga and stretching

Mahindra maintains his flexibility, balance and posture through his yoga and stretching practice, because these skills decline with age. Yoga practice enables people to develop body awareness, while they achieve mental relaxation through its slow movements, and focused breathing methods. Fitness experts state that physical movements combined with breathing techniques create a soothing energy, which benefits both physical and emotional health. His daily practice of this routine enables him to keep his flexibility and balance, while he reduces his stress levels.

6/8

The importance of daily meditation

Anand Mahindra dedicates 20 minutes of his daily time, to meditation practice. Through this practice, people can remove mental clutter and emotional stress, which leads to better mental clarity and emotional strength. The accumulation of stress and emotional baggage during aging can reduce a person's life energy. Through meditation, Mahindra believes people can achieve inner peace, which enables them to start their day with positive energy. The practice of meditation according to Mahindra helps people develop inner balance, which leads to better immunity and overall wellness in their lives.

7/8

Key takeaways from Anand Mahindra’s routine

Mahindra's fitness approach shows that people need to follow a varied exercise plan, which includes multiple activities instead of focusing on brief achievements. His workout routine which combines cardio with strength training and flexibility exercises, protects him from injuries while supporting his long-term health needs. People who practice meditation as a mindfulness activity, will achieve improved mental clarity, and emotional equilibrium. Those new to working out, should start with light exercises before they move to advanced levels. Mahindra’s fitness approach shows how a properly designed fitness program enables people to maintain their health during their senior years.

It is yogasana, not yoga performed by Sri Anand mahindra. Meditation is apart from yogasana.
