Why soak mangoes?

According to the books of Ayurveda and traditional Indian culinary practices, it is believed that soaking mangoes for 20-30 minutes can not only reduce their potency but also help in lowering body heat on consumption. This helps in balancing the natural properties of mango and making them gentler on your system, especially during the peak summer months.

Flushes out anti-nutrients

Mangoes, especially when freshly plucked, may contain traces of phytic acid and sap, which releases a milky substance from the mango stem. Soaking helps to wash away these antinutrients and irritants, which can otherwise cause stomach discomfort, throat irritation, or allergic reactions. This simple soak also helps remove pesticide residues, if any, especially when the mangoes aren't organically grown.
