Eating these foods post 60's can keep you healthy

As we age our body needs strength to be agile and alive, but aging can be a bit tricky sometimes as ‘what to eat’ may seem like the most confusing thing post 60’s. Experts around the world believe that aging needs care, a healthy balanced diet with foods that are rich in minerals, vitamins and antioxidants. Here are some foods that are recommended by experts to boost health and well being after the 60's.

2/6

Eggs

Eggs are a great source of vitamin D and with age bones start getting weak as the body loses its ability to synthesize vitamin D from sunlight. That's when the body needs a healthy boost of vitamin D to sustain the essential functions of the body. Post 60 experts suggest to include a 100 gram serving of eggs that too with the yolks. The right amount of amino acids in eggs also help in boosting the protein levels keeping the body and brain healthy. However, in case of high cholesterol levels, it is better to seek medical guidance.

3/6

Fatty fish

Including a serving of fatty fish in the diet like salmon, sardines, tuna and trout post 60’s may help in boosting immunity and overall health. As per the British Nutrition Foundation (BNF) elderly people must eat two portions of fatty fish per week to prevent heart diseases, this is because of the presence of omega 3 fatty acids in the fish. It also helps in improving brain health.

4/6

Rice

Rich in magnesium and other essential minerals, rice is the most widely consumed staple and post 60’s adding rice to the daily diet may be the best thing to do. It is light and easy to digest, which helps in managing a healthy metabolism, keeping the body weight in control.

5/6

Bananas

Blood pressure often increases with age, as per a study by the Blood Pressure UK adding potassium rich foods to the diet may help in managing the blood pressure levels. It also helps in lowering the risk of cardiac diseases and strokes. Including banana tea, shakes or eating a raw banana daily can help in boosting overall health and improve blood pressure levels.

6/6

A handful of berries

A serving of berries like blueberries, cranberries and strawberries daily after the age of 60’s may help in maintaining a healthy balance of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants in the body, which helps in slowing down the process of aging, reduces inflammation which often leads to pain in the body and helps in cell regeneration which is essential for a healthy body and mind. As per a study by the Annals of Neurology, it was found that berries were high in antioxidants like flavonoids, which have great anti-inflammatory properties.
