This is how salt and lemon can be used beyond kitchen

Salt and lemon are two of the most used cooking ingredients so much so that it can be used in almost everything, right from cooking curries and sauces to making drinks and desserts interesting, these two essentials can be used in so many ways in day-to-day cooking. But do you know these two ingredients can also be used effectively even beyond cooking and here are some smart ways to use them in day-to-day life to make things easier.

2/7

Remove Sweat Stains

A mix of these two ingredients can make your clothes stain-free and also help remove stubborn yellow sweat stains on clothes, especially underarms or collars, which is usually tough to remove. Apart from that, it also helps adding a nice fragrance to the clothes, simply make a paste of lemon juice and salt, apply it on the stained area and leave it for 30 minutes before washing. It helps break down the stain and brighten fabric.

Air Freshener

Keeping a bowl filled with salt and lemon peels or slices can work as natural room freshner, if your room smells musty or foul, salt and lemon can act as a quick air freshener. Slice a lemon, sprinkle some salt on it, and keep it in a small bowl. It absorbs foul odour from the air and releases a mild fresh citrus fragrance at the same time.

4/7

Prevents browning of fruits

Cut fruits like apples or pears turn brown when left outside. Rubbing them lightly with lemon juice and salt solution can stop discoloration.

5/7

Disinfects surfaces

A mix of salt and lemon can also be used to disinfect the surfaces, slabs, cook tops and even appliances. Just mix salt and lemon juice in warm water and dip a cloth in it. Wipe the mat thoroughly. The natural antibacterial effect of lemon combined with salt disinfects and removes odor.

6/7

Keep ants away

Ants hate the smell of lemon and the texture of salt. Sprinkle some salt mixed with lemon juice along doorways or windows where ants usually enter. It works as a natural pest repellent without using any chemical spray.

7/7

Stainless Steel Cleaner

If your stainless steel utensils or taps have water marks, rub them with lemon dipped in salt. It removes dull spots and restores shine. This is great for kettles, faucets, steel dabba lids, and even metal door handles.
