Popular dishes of Jodhpur

Every place in the world is represented by its culture and when we talk about India, the colours and the enthusiasm is what comes to our minds first. That is because that’s how Indian culture is. Full of colours, festivals that bring a lot of joy and it seems never-ending because India is one such place in the world that is a culmination of thousands of different cultures that is spread across 28 cities. One of the many beautiful cities is Jodhpur, A.K.A. “The Blue City”. Rendition of art and the artisans of medieval India, of romance and glory that lies in the magnificent forts, beauty and warmth that lies in every corner, the city of Jodhpur has to be a must-visit in your list. If you are wondering why is it called “The Blue City”, it is because the houses near the Mehrangarh Fort are all coloured blue and give an outstanding view when the sunlight strikes. Along with the beauty and valour that lies in the city, Jodhpur is also a famous spot to experience authentic Rajasthani cuisine that's flavourful as well as colourful. Jodhpur's Pyaaz Kachoris have already made their mark but there are also other delicacies that you must get your hand on the next time you are in Jodhpur. Here is a list of dishes you must try:

Gulab Jamun ki Sabzi

We were also as surprised as you are when we first heard about it. Naturally, it is a common misconception that the sabzi is made with sweet Gulab Jamuns. Couldn’t be happier after realising the fact that it's not the case and the Gulab Jamuns are just balls made out of Mawa which are deep-fried and then dipped in a delicious gravy rather than dipping in the sugar syrup. Interesting, right? That’s why its the first must-try on our list. (Image Courtesy: Instagram/@the_me_menu)

Laal Maas

The people of Rajasthan like their spicy flavours and if there was a challenge to put forward the spiciest dishes of this cuisine, then Lal Maas would top without a doubt. We say so because the ‘Laal’ (Red) in the Laal Maas is obtained by red chillies and garlic. Although very spicy, Laal Maas is so delicious that you wouldn’t be able to stop yourself from having more.
