These veggies can give you the right amount of protein

There’s no denying the fact that eating fresh vegetables daily can give your body the much-needed dose of nutrition. In fact, vegetables have been an inseparable part of our lives and we swear by these fresh veggies like anything, but when it comes to building strong muscles and strengthening our bone health, we blindly switch to supplements or meat-based products like eggs, chicken or fish.

Why do we need protein?

Protein not only helps in building muscles but at the same time can improve your brain health and bone health and can enhance the quality of your teeth, hairs and nails. Last but not least, the right intake of protein can also boost your immune system. The best thing about adding plant-based protein to your diet is that it will give you the right amount of protein without increasing your weight and cholesterol level. Thus, adding plant-based protein to your diet is the safest as well as the easiest way of consuming healthy protein.

3/5

Spinach

Leafy greens are known for their nutrient-dense composition. In fact, spinach is one of the most widely consumed leafy greens. Known for its rich iron and folate content, spinach is also a great source of plant-based protein. One cup of spinach contains as much as 0.7 grams of protein. The best thing about spinach is that it is rich in amino acids that can meet the daily nutritional needs of an individual.

4/5

Asparagus

Another nutritious and delightful source of plant-based protein is asparagus. Known for its umpteen health benefits, 134 grams of asparagus has around 3 grams of protein. Apart from its good protein content, it is also a good source of an antioxidant called riboflavin that helps in cell regeneration.

5/5

Bok Choy or Napa Cabbage

Bok choy, also known as Chinese cabbage, is a good source of protein and fibre. This versatile vegetable has long been a part of oriental cooking, and you might be surprised to know that 100 grams of bok choy has up to 1.5 grams of protein. Along with that, it also has strong anti-inflammatory properties.
