Reasons for sugar cravings

If you also often have the urge to eat sweet things, then STOP taking sugar and consider it serious. The habit of eating more sweet things can be harmful to your health in many ways. The biggest danger from this is due to increase in the level of blood sugar, if it is not controlled in time, then it can increase the risk of type-2 diabetes. Excess sugary stuff can also increase obesity, heart disease and mental health problems along with diabetes. These cravings can also be caused by several underlying health problems, which are silently affecting the body. If health experts are to be believed then all people should reduce the amount of sweet things in the diet.

Why do sugar cravings happen?

As per researchers, sugar cravings may be related to states of your brain. The hippocampus, in your temporal lobe, is responsible for storing memories. The hippocampus is what helps you remember the taste of dark chocolate and milk chocolate. Its state of activation can also be food craving or desire to eat certain things. If you keep feeling the need to eat more sugar, then it should be taken seriously.

The serotonin theory

One theory regarding food cravings is also related to serotonin. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter needed to maintain mood. Researchers believe that an imbalance of serotonin in the brain may increase the risk of depression. This condition can increase serotonin production when you have a strong desire to eat carbs or sweets.

Health experts believe that it is not good to have sugar cravings, if you also have a desire to eat a lot of sweets then it should be taken care of! Eating too much sugar can increase your weight, as well as it can also increase the complications of diabetes. This is the reason why health experts recommend reducing the intake of sugary things to the minimum.
