Home-cooked food is the new trend

Cravings have taken a huge leap over people during this lockdown period and that is visible all over social media sites. People are cooking a variety of dishes at home that they only wanted to savour outside such as momos, noodles, garlic bread, pizza and even munchies like chips. Due to the lockdown and scarcity of food supplies, people have taken it upon themselves to cook at home as much as possible. While this is a great opportunity for parents to cook with children, there is also a sense of relief that children are now mostly eating home-cooked food. Same is the case with our Bollywood celebs. We see so many of them cooking with their loved ones and spreading awareness about staying at home. Recently, Shilpa Shetty Kundra took it to her youtube channel to share a delicious sweet potato and potato chips recipe that she cooks for her family. Image Courtesy: Instagram/@ theshilpashetty

Shilpa Shetty’s healthy chips recipe

This home-made chips recipe wasn’t only delectable but also used only 1 tsp of oil. Yes, you read that right. She sliced one potato of each kind into thin pieces and then soaked them into the water to get rid of the starch. Then dried them by keeping on a napkin and transferred them to a bowl to which she drizzled 1 tsp of oil and her seasonings like salt, pepper and paprika. She told her audience that the over had been preheated at 180 degrees. Shilpa scattered the chips onto two baking trays, maintaining at least 1-inch distance between each slice and popped them into the oven for another hour. The chips were ready and crisp and also had a beautiful colour over them.

Avoid packaged snacks as much as possible

This was Shilpa Shetty Kundra’s quick, home-made chips recipe that she cooks often as she is also a big fan of potato chips just like her son. She prefers and advises her viewers to cook these all-time favourite snacks at home without the toxins and preservatives that the packaged food comes with.

Potatoes and sweet potato are full of healthy nutrition

Both potatoes and sweet potatoes are highly rich in nutrients but the excessive preservatives and oil can damage them before they reach us. Sweet potatoes are known to be highly rich in carotenoids that also help to reduce inflammation from our body. Potatoes, on the other hand, are also a great source of healthy carbohydrates along with being anti-inflammatory.

To end the video on a happy note, Shetty also said, "You can make these healthy and yummy Potato-&-Sweet-Potato chips at home and store them in an airtight container for all those snack cravings. It's devoid of any harmful ingredients that can be dangerous for your child. Also, these are baked chips! Nothing to worry about even if the kids clean off a little more than they should. Happy snacking!"
