Importance of detox meal plan after Holi

The festival madness is over and now it's time to detox and shed those extra calories and toxins from the body that you gained during Holi indulgence. According to experts, excess of anything is not good, and festive indulgence is no exception. So, after the deep-fried gujiyas, dahi vada, malpua, and more, it's time to give your body a break. To do so, the best approach is to follow a 24-hour detox meal plan. Here we have curated one for you to try. Take a look.

Morning


Begin your day at around 8 am with a cup of cinnamon tea, fenugreek water, lemon-honey water or methi seeds water on an empty stomach. Also, have 2 soaked walnuts and almonds along with it.

Breakfast



For breakfast, try to have a banana and oats smoothie, vegetable poha, quinoa upma, besan cheela, or veg dalia. Also avoid anything that has too much fat or oil.

Mid-morning


At around 12 pm, you can have 2-3 seasonal fruits as a mid-morning snack. A mixed bowl of papaya, kiwi, orange, strawberry and apple are some great options. One can also drink one glass of mint-coriander juice along with the fruits to flush out toxins.

Evening



At around 4-4.30 pm, drink a cup of green tea or black coffee. You can have a handful of roasted makhana or roasted chana as a snack along with it to handle the hunger pangs.

Dinner


Try to finish your dinner by 7, so that by 9 pm your body is ready to fall asleep and get a good 8-10 hours of sleep. For dinner, one can choose corn chaat, sooji cheela, paneer tikka, stir-fried veggies, veg soup, or a simple soya chunks masala bowl, as all these are rich in nutrients and protein and are also easy to digest.

Post Dinner


After dinner, at around 8 pm, you can have a cup of lemongrass tea, green tea or jeera water. This will fasten the digestion process and will also induce sleep.

Juices and Teas


With the change in season, it is important to keep a steady liquid intake, as the body is already dehydrated with so much physical rush, deep-fried food and drinks. It is a necessary step during detox and to do so, one can opt for fresh fruit and vegetable juices instead of packed ones. You can also include different types of detox teas in your routine which will detoxify your body in no time. From classic green tea to chamomile and jasmine, the range is wide and aromatic too.

One can also include seasonal fruits in the diet to flush out all the toxins. The water content of fruits like watermelon and cucumber will keep you hydrated and also act as a healthy snack that keeps you full for long.

Also, it is important to indulge in some sort of physical activity to burn the extra calories you have gained during indulgence. According to experts, such activities play a major role in improving metabolism and fastening the detoxifying process. Make sure you dedicate 30-40 minutes from your daily routine to some sort of exercise.
