Importance of protein

Protein is the building block of the human body. For the unversed, it is an essential nutrient that plays a crucial role in the overall functioning of the body. It is made up of amino acids, which work as building blocks of life and help build and repair tissues, including muscles, skin, hair, and internal organs. It also plays a key role in muscle growth, immune support, enzyme and hormone production, and maintaining a healthy metabolism. Protein is available via two key sources—plant and animal—and two of the key sources of protein are eggs and paneer. Let us explore which one offers more protein and different ways to enjoy them.

Protein content

Boiled egg: As per USDA, 1 cup of eggs equals 150 g and can include 3 large eggs, which contain around 18-19 g protein.
Paneer: As per USDA, 1 cup of paneer, which is also around 150 g, contributes to around 21-21 g protein.

3/6

Other nutrients in eggs

According to a comprehensive study on eggs by PMC, it is said that whole eggs contain high-quality animal protein. And it is said that eggs improve satiety, reduce hunger, and can help lower overall calorie intake, which assists in weight loss and maintenance. They also contain vitamin A, B12, and selenium that boost the immune system and keep the skin healthy too.

4/6

Other nutrients in paneer

According to a study by PMC, paneer is a rich source of minerals such as calcium and phosphorus, and vitamins A and D. Paneer supports bone and teeth health due to its rich calcium and phosphorus content. It also aids in metabolism and provides instant energy. It is mentioned that paneer contains linoleic acid that may help in fat metabolism, and its nutrients help regulate insulin.

5/6

How to eat eggs

The best way to eat boiled eggs is to sprinkle salt and pepper, slice into salads, make egg sandwiches, or pair with whole grain toast along with some avocado slices. One can also add boiled eggs to cooked leftover rice and make egg fried rice, along with fiber-rich veggies in it, which makes for a complete meal. Boiled eggs can also be used to make curries, where you make a curry of tomato and onion and dunk boiled eggs into it.

6/6

How to eat paneer

And the best way to enjoy paneer is to mix it into curries, stir fries, or one can also grill as tikka, scramble with veggies and layer on a toast, one can also make salad or simply make bhurji and enjoy with paratha. It is best to consume in moderation to stay fit and healthy.
