This is what Kareena and Alia ate

Nutritionist and author Rujuta Diwekar is known for promoting local and regional foods. In the past as well, celebs have been spotted enjoying meals at her residence. In September 2022, her client and friend Kareena Kapoor, along with her sister Karisma were spotted enjoying a Maharashtrian lunch at her residence. In the most recent post on Instagram, actress Alia Bhatt shared a silver plate full of Maharashtrian dishes that she enjoyed at Rujuta's home in the company of Kareena Kapoor. She captioned the story, "The most whole-some lunch courtesy @rujuta.diwekar." Rujuta later shared a picture with the two actresses and captioned the story, "Post pithal bhakri pose with the two best girls." Scroll down to read the details of the dishes the actresses ate.

Pithla

This is also a rustic, unleavened flatbread made with millet flours like jowar (sorghum) and bajra (pearl millet).

Thecha


It is one of the most popular Maharashtrian chutneys, made by crushing green chillies and garlic in a mortar and pestle. It has a coarse and raw texture and is mostly served with bhakri and pithla.

Lal Chawli ka Saag


Also known as Lal Saag, it is a simple, iron-rich leafy vegetable dish popular in North and Western India. It is mostly cooked as a side dish in mustard oil with a tempering of green chilli and garlic, and seasoned with salt.

It is one of the simplest tangy dal dishes, where toor dal is cooked in a cooker with salt, turmeric, and water and is tempered with spices and cumin.

It is a simple, refreshing Indian salad made with finely chopped onions, tomatoes, and cucumbers. It’s crunchy, tangy, and the perfect side to balance spicy Indian meals.
