Right way to make South Indian Raw Mango Rice

It is a simple and healthy South Indian summer recipe that can be easily made at home. To make Raw Mango Rice, you need unripe green mango, cooked rice and basic spices. Scroll down to read the detailed recipe.

Ingredients


2 cups cooked rice, 1 raw unripe green mango, 2 sprigs curry leaves, 3 to 4 green chilies, 1 to 2 dried red chilies, salt to taste, 1/4 tsp turmeric, ¼ cup peanuts, 1 tbsp chana dal, 1 tbsp urad dal, 1 tsp mustard seeds, 1 inch ginger, 3 tbsp peanut oil, and 1 pinch hing

Step 1


First of all, peel and chop the mango and set it aside.

Heat oil in a pan and fry the peanuts on a medium heat and set it aside.

Add more oil to the pan and then add chana dal, urad dal, mustard seeds and dried red chilli. Let them crackle.

Add ginger, green chilies & curry leaves. Fry till the curry leaves become crisp.

Add mango, salt and turmeric. Saute for 2 to 3 minutes and cook covered until the mango turns mushy.

Now, add the cooked rice and adjust salt if needed.
