How to make restaurant style frothy coffee without beating with hands

Essential elements to brew a perfect cup of coffee

Use Freshly grounded coffee and Fresh Whole beans:

Pre-ground coffee lacks flavour and aroma owing to oxidation, so freshly ground coffee is always preferable. Additionally, since coffee oil is water soluble, the moisture in the air reacts with coffee components when it comes to pre-ground coffee. Additionally, when you grind coffee at home, you often just grind as much as you need, keeping the remaining beans fresh and flavorful.

2/10

Use a scale

Using a digital kitchen scale to weigh your coffee is preferable to estimating how much coffee to add. Measurement spoons are another option. Similar to baking a cake, making the ideal cup of coffee demands attention to detail. For an 8 ounce of coffee, you would require 15 grams of ground coffee(roughly a tablespoon of ground coffee).

3/10

Use the right amount of coffee and water ratio

The ratio of coffee to water for making the ideal espresso is 1:7 A 1:8 ratio is preferred by some, but that would slightly dilute the flavour. According to the 1:15 ratio, 15 parts of water should be added for every one serving of coffee.

Size matters

If you want to create coffee that tastes absolutely delicious, grinding the coffee is one of the most important tasks to take into account. The grind size is heavily stressed since it has an impact on the extraction rate, flow rate, and brewing time. Finely ground coffee that has been in touch with water for a long time and is overextracted will taste harsh; conversely, coarsely ground coffee that has been in contact with water for a shorter period of time will be underextracted and will not produce a strong cup of coffee. Another tip that helps when grinding coffee is to use a conical burr grinder to attain the most perfectly and consistently ground coffee.

5/10

Use filtered water

Coffee with a weak flavour may have low water quality. There are many minerals, metals, and other contaminants in ordinary tap water. The quantity of these varies from place to place, so even if you pay attention to grinding and brewing procedure, the flavour of the coffee can change depending on the quality of the water. The ideal cup of coffee cannot be made with either hard water or soft water. Since soft water is heavy in sodium and low in magnesium, it is unable to extract the proper amount of flavour from the ground coffee. Hard water, on the other hand, includes calcium and magnesium and causes significant scale buildup on your machine. The best water to use for your coffee is filtered water.

6/10

Equipment cleanliness

Maintaining the cleanliness of the machine is crucial from a hygiene perspective, but it also has an impact on how your coffee tastes. Diffusers frequently build up old and burned coffee, which alters the flavour and makes it bitter, acidic, or even metallic. A clean machine is essential to ensure that your coffee tastes great and the bitter or metallic tasting coffee shouldn’t be incorrectly blamed on the coffee bean or the type of grind.

7/10

Make sure your water is the right temperature

As previously stated, getting a coffee that tastes excellent requires careful attention to detail. A great brew requires water that is between 195 and 205 degrees Fahrenheit, or around 90.56 degrees Celsius, which is just a little below the boiling point of water. The best thing about keeping this temperature constant is that it is ideal for all brewing processes.

8/10

Pre-heat / Pre-wet everything

Pre-wetting the filter paper is a simple yet important step. Pre-wetting the filter paper helps in percolation brewing and increases the extraction rate. Also, when you are preparing an espresso pre-wetting decreases fine migration. Pre-wetting also ensures that the taste of the paper is not transferred to your brew thus there is zero to minimum change in taste. Pre-wetting the paper also secures the paper at the end of the funnel and keeps it intact. Preheating your mug is a great way to ensure that the coffee remains hotter for a longer duration and the heat of the coffee is not absorbed to heat the mug.

9/10

Right Granules according to the equipment

It is best to use a burr grinder as opposed to a blade grinder to get a consistent grind. The three unique stages of coffee dissolution are sour, sweet, and bitter. The coffee extraction process will be hampered if the granules are not uniform in size, which will also have an impact on the coffee's flavour. A burr grinder produces consistently ground coffee because it has sharp grooves running the length of the grinding surface. Additionally, it continuously presses and rotates evenly to crush beans at a low pace while preserving flavour and generating uniformly sized particles.

10/10

Service

Coffee should be served as soon as it is prepared to prevent the beverage from cooling down. Before serving, give it a stir to make sure the flavours are well distributed. Make sure to serve the coffee in a spotless, previously heated cup because this keeps the beverage warm for an extended period of time and enhances the flavour.
