What makes Mango Shake a summer favourite

Come summer and the craving for mango shake is quite organic. What makes this summer beverage truly tempting is the blend of fresh mango pulp, full-fat milk, sugar, and nuts. What makes it even more pleasing is a scoop of vanilla ice cream and some more nuts on top. While reading this, if you feel like grabbing a glass of chilled mango shake, go ahead. But wait, we have another variation making rounds on social media called Raghav Chadha's mango shake recipe. But what exactly is it? Let us explore.

Raghav Chadha's Mango Shake

According to a YouTube video interview with Curly Tales, the politician's homemade mango shake uses almond milk instead of regular dairy milk, which makes the difference. Also, instead of sugar as a sweetener, he uses honey, which enhances the nutritional value of the summer beverage.

What makes almond milk special

It is a dairy-free beverage made by blending almonds with water and then straining the mixture. It is suitable for people avoiding dairy or following a plant-based lifestyle. It is naturally free of cholesterol and low in saturated fat, often contains vitamin E (good for skin and immunity), and many store-bought versions are fortified with calcium and vitamin D. Also, it is gentle on the stomach compared to regular milk, making drinks like mango shake quite light on the gut.

How to make Almond Milk at home

Ingredients: 1 cup raw almonds and 3–4 cups water
Method: First, soak almonds overnight or for at least 6–8 hours. Next morning, peel them for a smoother texture, then blend the soaked almonds with fresh water until smooth. Strain using a muslin cloth or fine sieve to remove pulp and your homemade, preservative-free almond milk is ready. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2–3 days.

Note: The leftover almond pulp can be used in baking, smoothies, or as a healthy addition to dough.

How to make Raghav Chadha's Mango Shake

Ingredients: 2 ripe mangoes, 1 cup chilled almond milk, 2–3 tbsp honey, 1/4 tsp cardamom powder, 4–5 ice cubes

Method: Wash, peel, and dice mango pieces. Add them to a blender jar along with almond milk, cardamom powder, honey, and ice cubes. Blend until smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust sweetness or thickness (add more milk if needed). Pour into a glass, top with a few pieces of mangoes, and serve chilled.
