Cinnamon

As per Dr Hansa, cinnamon helps to boost metabolism and reduce bad cholesterol. It stabilizes blood sugar level and it's very effective for weight loss. It is said that cinnamon helps boost the metabolism early in the day, aiding better calorie burn and energy balance throughout the day. As per a study titled Advances in pharmacological effects and mechanism of action of cinnamaldehyde, cinnamon contains a compound called cinnamaldehyde which helps increase thermogenesis — the process where your body burns calories to produce heat. The study highlights that the compound enhances metabolic health by improving glucose uptake and insulin sensitivity and offers cardiovascular protection through its anti-inflammatory and lipid-lowering effects. Cinnamon is also packed with polyphenols and helps fight oxidative stress and supports overall immunity. It is said to help protect the body from chronic diseases such as heart disease and diabetes. And it also reduces inflammation, supporting overall health and well-being. Cinnamon also reduces inflammation in the gut, which can ease bloating and make your stomach appear flatter. While it’s not a magic cure, adding a pinch of cinnamon to morning tea, smoothies, oats, or warm water can support a healthier metabolism and a leaner waistline when paired with a balanced diet and activity. Cinnamon generates warmth in the body and may boost metabolism. It also helps reduce cravings by stabilising blood sugar levels, which indirectly supports fat loss, especially around the belly. Cinnamon also has anti-inflammatory properties that support overall gut health, which is crucial for weight balance.

Ginger

As per her video, consuming ginger helps boost metabolism as well as help protect against high blood sugar and high cholesterol. As per a study, it stimulates digestive secretions and enzymes, aiding nutrient breakdown and absorption, and reduces gastrointestinal inflammation, which may benefit inflammatory bowel diseases and protect the digestive system from other issues. It is proven to contain gingerol, a powerful anti-inflammatory compound that helps relieve joint pain and muscle soreness. It also contains antioxidant and antimicrobial properties that help strengthen immunity and fight infections. Ginger also stimulates digestive enzymes, helping reduce bloating, gas and indigestion. As per Ayurveda, sipping ginger tea, adding fresh ginger to soups and curries, or starting your day with warm ginger-infused water can help clear congestion, soothe a sore throat, and keep your respiratory system strong. This simple root becomes a powerful wellness ally when temperatures dip.

Mangosteen powder

The peel of the mangosteen fruit contains a high amount of hydroxyl citric acid, HCA, which helps in active weight loss. It is effective in belly fat reduction in obese people. Research on high-fat diet-induced fatty liver in rats has showed that mangosteen extract reduced plasma free fatty acids and hepatic triglycerides, decreased lipid peroxidation markers, and boosted antioxidant enzyme activities (such as SOD, GSH, GPx, CAT) in liver tissue. It also improved mitochondrial function and suppressed mitochondria-dependent apoptosis of liver cells, leading to protection against hepatic steatosis and oxidative stress.

6/8

Guggul

Guggul is a plant resin and helps in reduction of bad cholesterol. It also helps even in burning of excess fat.

7/8

Turmeric

Turmeric has curcumin, which is one of the active compounds that decreases weight and BMI. According to the World Journal of Gastroenterology, curcumin found in turmeric has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that help reduce inflammation in the gut, which is beneficial for digestive disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and inflammatory bowel disease. According to another study, curcumin compound found in turmeric promotes a balanced immune response by stimulating Th1 cells and increasing interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) production, which are critical for antiviral and antibacterial defense, while decreasing Treg cells that suppress immune activation. Its antibacterial, antiviral and antioxidant properties strengthen overall immunity. It also helps reduce bloating, gas and supports better gut health.
