6 gut-friendly drinks

There is no doubt in the fact that the overall well-being of our body is connected to our stomach and gut. Problems related to the gut can wreak havoc on the daily routine, can be tough to deal with and might make you feel uneasy throughout the day. In such a situation, it is best to ensure that your gut is healthy by inculcating the right kind of morning ritual in your daily routine. ​Lemon Water

Lemon water is packed with a number of health benefits and is one of the easiest drinks to prepare early morning. Just take a warm glass of water and squeeze half a lemon in it. You can add honey to sweeten it up and add to the benefits. It provides a good dose of vitamin C, balances the pH level of the body, improves secretion of digestive juices and promotes weight loss.

​Wheatgrass

Have wheatgrass juice early in the morning to detoxify the body, promote weight loss, stimulate blood circulation and improve digestion. If you don’t have fresh wheatgrass, use a powdered version of it.

​Ginger Tea

Ginger Tea is super easy to prepare and can benefit you in a variety of ways. Having ginger tea on an empty stomach can strengthen the digestive system, soothe nausea and provide relief from a scratchy throat. Just boil 1 cup of water along with 1 inch of grated ginger. Let it simmer for about 4-5 minutes. Now strain the tea and drink while warm. You can add half a spoon of honey if the flavour of ginger is overwhelming.

​Soaked Kalonji

Having soaked kalonji early in the morning is super beneficial for your stomach as it not only promotes growth of healthy bacteria in the gut but also heals stomach ulcers. Just soak ½ tsp of kalonji seeds in ½ cup water overnight and drink the next morning.

​Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar or ACV is said to be an effective remedy for those dealing with gut-related issues. Apart from preventing gas and bloating, ACV also flushes out bad bacteria from the stomach and intestines. In a glass of warm water, mix 1 tsp ACV along with 1 tsp honey and drink on an empty stomach.

​Tulsi Water

Add 1½ cup of water to a pan. Tear 5-6 tulsi leaves and bring to a boil. Now let the tea simmer until it reduces to just one cup. Strain and drink warm. Tulsi Tea is a refreshing drink to have in the morning to drive away bad breath, improve digestion and control spiking blood sugar levels.
