Domino's hygiene questioned by Mumbai man

Hygiene is becoming one of the top nightmares while ordering food from a restaurant and there have been several such instances in the recent past. Now, once again the issue of hygiene maintained in restaurants has come under the scanner, as yesterday a Mumbaikar posted his ordeal about a pizza order from the popular fast-food joint Domino’s. Here’s what happened. (Images courtesy: iStock)

The Twitter post

Last night, a Twitter user named Arun Kolluri who is based in Mumbai posted a tweet with two pictures saying “2 to 3 pieces of glass found in the pizza. This speaks volumes about global brand food that we are getting. Not sure of ordering ever from Domino's,” while tagging Domino’s, FSSAI, Department of Consumer Affairs, Mumbai Police and Times Of India. (Image courtesy: Twitter/@kolluri_arun)

Glass in pictures

In the photos that Arun posted, one can clearly see the glass pieces, which could have caused severe damage if consumed. His post quickly got viral and several users commented on it with their own horrifying instances sharing their ordeal. While a person said that he encountered “A small metal screw inside Momos” that he ordered from Zomato. Another user commented with a picture of a Veg Pizza with chicken sausage stuffed in it.

Instead of taking some serious action on this incident, Mumbai Police was quick to respond that “Please write to customer care first. If they don't reply or give an unsatisfactory reply, then you can think of a legal remedy.”

Hygiene concerns

This incident again raises questions about Domino’s hygiene maintenance as the pizza outlet has been under the scanner for cleanliness standards. Earlier in the month of August, Domino’s Bengaluru outlet came into the limelight when a Twitter user posted a few pics of the pizza outlet’s kitchen where 2-3 mops were hanging over Pizza Dough lined in a tray in the kitchen area. Company's response

However, the company has now responded saying its quality team conducted a thorough inspection of the pizza outlet in question, but no anomaly was found. The official statement of Domino’s read, “We follow a strict no-glass policy in the kitchens and follow the highest standards of quality and safety. We will be investigating the matter further once we get the samples from the user and take action accordingly.”
