FSSAI recommends 10 food safety tips to follow during monsoon

Monsoon food safety tips by FSSAI

Monsoon brings an end to the scorching summer heat, but at the same time it also brings in bacteria-causing illnesses and that's the reason it’s time to be extra careful about personal hygiene and food hygiene as well. According to experts, the prevalence of food-borne illnesses increases tenfold and it is important to maintain cleanliness not just at a personal level but also in your kitchen. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) recently shared a series of tweets that focused on food safety tips to be followed during monsoon. ​Washing fruits and vegetables

​Leftover food

Do not leave cooked food at room temperature for more than 2 hours. Also, refrigerate all leftover cooked food and perishable food items (preferably below 5 degree Celsius) (Image: istock)

​Kitchen sanitization

Wash and sanitize all surfaces and equipment with disinfectant before preparing a food. Also, clean your kitchen floors with hot water and disinfectant. (Image: istock)
