As per Shweta Shah, a celebrity nutritionist, there are certain foods one should avoid on an empty stomach. In a recent post on Instagram, she explained that your first meal sets the tone for your entire day, and hence one should not start the day with foods that trigger acidity, bloating & hormonal chaos. Here are 4 foods you should NEVER eat on an empty stomach and why.

Raw Veggies (Salads)

Why to avoid: As per her post, it is cold, rough, heavy fiber, and can lead to gas, bloating, and vata imbalance.
Fix: Eat salads with lunch, never as your first meal.

Tomatoes

Why to avoid: It is highly acidic, contains tannins, and consuming on empty stomach, can lead to gas, acidity, and gastritis flare.
Fix: Eat tomatoes with meals not on an empty stomach.

Citrus Fruits

Why to avoid: As per her post, in the morning,stomach acid is naturally high and can lead to acidity, burning, and bloating.
Fix: She recommends eating banana or soaked raisins, as it is cooling and gentle.

Why to avoid: As per her post, coffee can lead to cortisol spike, acidity, jitters/shakiness, hormonal imbalance, and later cravings.
Fix: She suggests having soaked nuts or warm water first, and then coffee.
