Halloween slated for October 31, restauranteurs and chefs are experimenting with phantom-themed foods and dishes.
‘Making Halloween-themed dishes is about creating special moments’
For instance, a pumpkin soup with spider-shaped cream along with a ghost styled pizza are being served at Corra, Andheri. Chef Radheshyam Mishra, Head Chef, Corra, who ideated the dishes shares, “Making Halloween-themed dishes is more than just cooking; it's about creating special moments. When people see and taste our spooky dishes, they get excited. I get my ideas from the fun of Halloween, the stories that come with it, and the joy of making our customers happy with tasty and spooky food. It's all about the holiday's magic that inspires my cooking."
'The allure of spooky treats are undeniable'
For Rajiv Das, executive chef, Radisson Blu Mumbai “creating themed menus for Halloween is like painting a delicious masterpiece." At the hotel, this Halloween, you would find main courses such as Chicken Wellington with Graveyard Vegetables, Mini Monster Black Bun Sliders, Mummy Meatball Casserole, and Eyeball Tacos.
He adds, "The allure of these spooky treats is undeniable – they captivate our taste buds and ignite our imaginations. As chefs, we're inspired by the thrill of crafting eerie yet delightful dishes that bring people together. It's more than food; it's an experience. And when our audience is enchanted by our creations, that's the real magic of Halloween cuisine.”
Ghoul'y buffet
Some cafes like the Blue Blop Cafe are serving standalone food items such as monstrous Monster Burger, the hair-raising Monster Tacos, the creepy-crawly Spider Pizza, and the enchanting Trick and Treat Sundae. Meanwhile Sofitel, BKC, has curated an entire buffet. Their Halloween special dinner will offer a spread of treats including Spiderweb Exotic Vegetable Pie, Haunted Graveyard Seafood Paella, Zombie New Zealand Roasted Lamb, and Blanket Pig Mummies. "For festivals like Halloween, we also get a chance to really play with different foods and textures, and create visually appealing spreads that inspire our teams to push the envelope, every time,” says Sidney D'Cunha, Culinary Director, Sofitel Mumbai BKC.
Dready desserts, only!
And if you are wondering that the spirits of ghosts are only restricted to foods you are mistaken. Dessert such as Ghost Brownies, Spooky Cupcakes, Spiderweb Donuts, at Sofitel; Halloween Jack-O-Lantern Pumpkin Pies, Spooky Halloween Popsicles, and Witch Finger Cookies at Radisson would be available. The Silly, Bandra is serving The Tomb Stone, a mix of Maldon Salt Chocolate Mousse, Chocolate Soil, Activated Charcoal honeycomb, edible moss, and mulberries.
