Right way of cleaning microwave

When it comes to a busy work life and managing the kitchen with gadgets like an air fryer, microwave, oven, toaster, and dishwasher, these items always make life simpler. But, let us accept that they too need cleaning and maintenance for a better shelf life. If we look at the microwave, a machine used for cooking and reheating often gets dirty and stained, which not only makes it look untidy but also impacts its shelf life. Hence, it is important to clean them regularly. Chef Sanjeev Kapoor once shared some really inexpensive and easy ways to clean a microwave. According to his post on the official website, from heating food to actually cooking in it, the microwave has made life in the kitchen a breeze. And with such a heavy utility, microwaves tend to get dirty. A dirty microwave isn't advisable for a hygienic kitchen operation. So if you’re wanting to get cracking on those stains inside your beloved microwave, we’ve got some really cool tips and tricks to try out. Take a look at his simple and easy tips.

Tip 1: Lemon is your best friend

According to Chef Sanjeev, lemon is one of the most inexpensive ingredients to clean your microwave. He states, "Lemon from your kitchen inventory has properties that can come in handy for cleaning microwaves. All you need to do is cut a lemon in half and microwave it for a minute. Later, use the same lemon to scrub off stains. The heat makes it easy for the juice to be squeezed out of the lemon." He adds, "This not only helps in getting out tough stains, but it also eliminates the foul smell inside making it nice and fresh."

Tip 2: Water and Vinegar

He also states that if you don’t have lemon around, you could always use vinegar too. According to his post, all you need to do is, simply take a bowl of water and add some vinegar to it. Microwave it for around 4-5 minutes. Now, using a soft sponge pad, dunk it in the water-vinegar solution and scrub the stains off with ease. The steam of the water helps the gunk get soft and easily wipe off, while the vinegar adds freshness and comes in handy for tougher stains, he informs in his post.

Tip 3: Use a sponge or a soft rag

When it comes to daily cleaning of microwave, chef Sanjeev suggests using a soft rag or a sponge. The stains can usually come off easily using these two.

5/6

Tip 4: Salt

He also suggests using salt for cleaning the microwave and removing stains. According to him, if you’ve dropped some gravy inside the microwave, immediately put some salt on it. After a few minutes you can simply wipe it off and you’re pretty much good to go.

6/6

Tip 5: Baking Soda

He also recommends using baking soda for cleaning purposes. He says, if you’ve come across a really stubborn stain, simply make a small compound mixing baking soda and water and cover the stain with it for an entire night. The next day, when the compound has dried nicely, scrape it along with the stain and you’ll have your microwave looking brand-spanking-new, he claims.
