Can drinking beetroot-carrot juice boost eye health

Are you someone who is always struggling with vision? Blame it on heredity, health conditions, exposure to screen, slackening vision may lead to serious eye health issues in the long run. However, much like your day-to-day habits, what you eat also has an impact on your vision, this is why it is essential to eat foods that can naturally boost vision such as carrot and beetroot. Here’s what happens when you drink beetroot carrot juice daily, read on to find out…

2/6

Why beetroot carrot juice?

Beetroot and carrot juice is a powerhouse of nutrients that can significantly support eye health as it is packed with essential vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals, this juice has been traditionally consumed to maintain vision, improve blood circulation, and reduce oxidative stress.

3/6

Beta-Carotene for Vision Clarity

Carrots are famously high in beta-carotene, a precursor of vitamin A, which plays a crucial role in maintaining the health of the retina and preventing night blindness. Beetroot carrot juice helps in improving blood flow to the optic nerves, ensuring better oxygen delivery to the eyes. Together, they protect vision clarity and reduce the risk of age-related vision degeneration. Beetroot juice is known to improve endurance and performance during exercise.

4/6

Protect Eye Tissues

Both beetroot and carrot are rich in antioxidants like lutein, zeaxanthin, betalains, and vitamin C. These compounds protect the eyes from oxidative damage caused by free radicals and harmful blue light exposure. Lutein and zeaxanthin, in particular, are known to filter high-energy wavelengths of light, helping prevent macular degeneration and cataracts over time.

5/6

Boosts Blood Circulation

Beetroot is a natural source of nitrates, which convert into nitric oxide in the body, which is a compound that improves blood circulation and lowers blood pressure. Better circulation ensures that essential nutrients and oxygen reach the delicate tissues of the eyes, supporting better visual performance and reducing eye fatigue, especially in people who spend long hours in front of screens.

6/6

How to make and what’s the best time to drink

Take 1 medium beetroot and 2 carrots. Wash, peel, and chop them.

Blend with a little water until smooth, then strain if preferred.

Add a few drops of lemon juice and a small piece of ginger for extra flavour and a light detox boost. Best time to drink: Have it in the morning on an empty stomach or 30–45 minutes before breakfast. This helps with better nutrient absorption and detoxification. Avoid taking it at night as its natural sugars and energy-boosting effect may disrupt sleep for some people.
