Right way to make Meethe Wale Chawal

Meethe Wale Chawal is an integral part of Basant Panchami celebration. The bright yellow hue defines the magic and aroma of the dish that is simmered with sugar, milk, or water and is topped with fried nuts. Scroll down to read the easiest recipe.

Ingredients


1 cup rice, 2 cups water, 3 tbsp ghee, 1/2 cup sugar, 4 cardamom, 1 few saffron strands, 10-12 cashews, 10-12 raisins, 6-8 almonds, and 1/4 cup milk

Step 1


First of all, wash the rice 2-3 times and then soak it in water for 20-30 minutes.

Heat ghee in a pan and fry the nuts and set them aside.

In the same pan, add the soaked rice and coat with ghee well. Add water, crushed cardamom, and saffron.

Step 4


Cook on medium heat until rice is tender and water is absorbed. And then, add sugar and milk.

Stir and cook for 15-20 minutes or until rice is evenly cooked.

Garnish with the fried cashews, almonds, and raisins and serve hot.
