Do not refrigerate these 8 foods

Undeniably refrigeration is the most easy and effortless way to retain the shelf life of perishable foods like fruits, veggies and condiments, but do you know that refrigerating certain foods can do more harm than good by ruining the taste, flavour and texture of some foods. Here’s a list of some common foods that must be kept outside of the refrigerator.

2/9

Tomatoes

Cold temperatures can cause tomatoes to lose flavor and become mushy. It's best to store them at room temperature and use them within a few days.

3/9

Garlic

Similar to onions, garlic can sprout and become rubbery if refrigerated. Keep them in a dry, cool spot.

4/9

Bananas

Refrigeration can turn banana skins brown, although the fruit inside remains edible. If you prefer your bananas unblemished, keep them at room temperature.

5/9

Onions

Onions can become moldy and mushy when refrigerated. Store them in a cool, dry place with good ventilation.

6/9

Honey

Honey can crystallize and become hard in the refrigerator. It's best stored at room temperature in a dry place.

7/9

Avocados

Refrigeration slows down the ripening process of avocados. If they are unripe, keep them at room temperature until they soften. Once ripe, you can store them in the refrigerator for a few days.

8/9

Potatoes

Refrigeration can convert the starch in potatoes into sugar, affecting their taste and texture. Store them in a cool, dark place instead.

9/9

Bread

Storing bread in the refrigerator can cause it to dry out and become stale more quickly. It's better to keep it at room temperature in a sealed bag or bread box.
