Tips to clean air fryer at home

The air fryer is a blessing for those who can’t live without fried food. While it has made cooking life simpler, the agenda of cleaning the air fryer still sounds like a pain to all the hygiene freaks. Here’s a list of smart and easy tips for cleaning an air fryer and how to get rid of grease. (Image: istock)

Soap and water

It’s the basket where the magic happens, and hence all the mess gets collected there. Once you are done with cooking, clean it with soap and water and let it dry. If the basket feels too sticky, then soak it in water and later use soap to clean it. (Image: istock)

Baking soda and lemon paste

Combine two tablespoons of baking soda, half a lemon's juice, and one tablespoon of hot water. Pour it in the air fryer basket, scrub it with a soft brush, and clean it under running water or with a sponge. (Image: istock)

Steam

Fill the basket with water and a few drops of dish soap. Heat it for 1 minute, followed by a rinse. (Image: istock)

Using a cloth

You can also use a damp microfiber cloth or a non-abrasive sponge dipped in dish soap to clean the air fryer. After that, use a clean, wet towel, wipe away any soap residue and allow it to dry naturally. (Image: istock)

Check the heating element

At times, small food particles stick around the air fryer. In that scenario, disconnect the air fryer and let it cool completely before removing any solid objects with an oven cleaning brush, and then wipe it with a dry towel. (Image: istock)

Use parchment paper

You can also use parchment paper for cleaning. Place it in the basket, fry the food, then, once done, pick and throw the paper away and wash the basket under running water. (Image: istock)

Glass cleaner

For the outer body, you may use a glass cleaner or Colin to shine it with a microfiber. Once done, allow it to dry naturally. (Image: istock)
