As temperatures rise outside , you may find yourself heating up internally, too, feeling burned out, irritable, and flushed. Summer is the season for pitta imbalance. It’s when this dosha is at risk of creating a fire in you that can lead to exhaustion, heartburn, ulcers, insomnia, rashes, and breakouts. But don’t sweat it. We have the resources you need to stay cool, calm, and hydrated as it heats up. As per Ayurveda ,there are many seasonal foods that will help you stay cool during summer, while keeping your microbiome in sync with the seasons. Take a look.

Buttermilk


Buttermilk is an Ayurvedic superfood. Its pre & probiotic property helps to ease digestion. Its cooling properties are Pitta pacifying & its great aid to tackle dehydration as well.

Ghee



Cooking in ghee or just having a tsp of ghee in the morning with warm water. It helps in reducing pitta in the body & helps digestion.

Drumstick


It is a rich source of antioxidants, calcium, iron & vitamin A. Drumsticks makes it to a list of Summer foods. Drumstick soup is a great alternative to dinner when you are not very hungry but need something hydrating & nutritious.

White Pumpkin


Popularly known by its Sanskrit name “Kushmaand" in Ayurved , is one of the best vegetables one can have. You can have it in the form of Juice, soup, sabji or even Petha. Its high water content, vitamin A, C & minerals makes it best to have in summers.

Amla


Amla is very popular in Ayurved due to its various health benefits like Pitta pacifying, immunity boosting & nourishing to the hepatobiliary system. It's the richest source of vitamin C & is a great antioxidant.

It is rich in Iron, calcium & protein this millet is magic in summer.

Mango

As you will be surprised to see this name in summer’s best food list, its health benefits are even more surprising, Richest source of Vit. A, Antioxidants, fibres & other essential minerals make this seasonal King Fruit more than worthy of relishing in summer.
In a nutshell these superfoods according to Ayurveda are helping in pacifying the Pitta dosha (excess heat) in body, preventing or tackling dehydration, boosting immunity, purifying blood thereby improving skin quality.
