Simple and easy ways to have eggs for breakfast

Eggs are a great way to kickstart your day, as they provide a good dose of protein to your body early in the morning and also drive away hunger pangs till lunch. One can never get bored of eggs because of the variety of forms in which they can be consumed. From boiled and poached to steamed and scrambled, there are so many interesting ways to cook eggs, that you can literally make a different dish throughout the week. ​Boiled eggs

Wash the eggs in running water and fill a pot halfway with water. Keep the pot on high flame and let it boil. Once a boil comes, lower the heat to medium and drop the eggs in the water. Add about 1 tsp salt to the pot. This will prevent the egg from cracking. Now cover with a lid and let the eggs boil for about 10-12 minutes. Once done, transfer them to a bowl of cold water and let them sit for two minutes. Now crack open the eggs to get perfectly boiled eggs. Season with salt, pepper and serve.

​Omelette

Another simplest recipe to make with eggs is omelette. Crack open two eggs in a bowl, add 2 tbsp chopped onions, 2 tbsp chopped capsicum, 2 tbsp chopped tomatoes along with salt and pepper as per taste. Whisk well to mix everything. Heat a non-stick pan and drizzle it with oil. Pour the mixture into the pan and spread it evenly. Let it cook from one side until golden in colour. Now flip and cook from the other side as well. Once done, pair up with toast and serve.

​Steamed eggs

Want to cook your eggs in a unique way? Here is a healthy yet tasty recipe that you can prepare in just 10 minutes. Crack open 4 eggs in a bowl. Add salt and pepper as per taste. You can also add oregano and chilli flakes for extra flavour. Now add finely chopped coriander leaves. To make it more wholesome, veggies like onion and capsicum can also be added. Make sure you add 2-3 chopped spring onions. Now mix everything together. Take a round steel container with a lid. Grease it lightly with oil and pour the egg mixture in it. Cover with a lid properly. Now boil some water in a pot. Gently place the steel box in the pot and let it boil for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, open the lid and take out the egg cake from the box. Chop into pieces and serve. You can also use these egg pieces to make stir-fries or use them in curries.

​Scrambled eggs

Egg bhurji or scrambled eggs is the perfect recipe to be served with hot chapatis and toast. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan. Add 1 tbsp minced garlic and 1 chopped onion. Saute for a minute. Now add 1 chopped tomato along with salt as per taste, ¼ tsp red chilli powder and ¼ tsp black pepper powder. Cook for about 4-5 minutes. Now crack open 2-3 eggs into the pan. Quickly mix well to prevent the eggs from settling. Keep mixing till the egg is perfectly scrambled. Cook until done and garnish with some chopped coriander leaves. Serve hot.

​Poached eggs

Poached eggs are usually preferred by those who like their yolk a bit runny. They can be paired with stir-fried veggies and make for a wholesome breakfast. To make poached eggs, first fill a pot with water and let it comes to a boil. Now mix 1-2 tbsp of vinegar in it. Crack open an egg into a small bowl. Now gently drop the egg into the pot and you will notice it will quickly take shape. The egg white’s colour will shift from translucent to white within a few seconds. Cook for about 3-4 minutes and take out the poached egg from the water using a slotted spoon. Your poached egg is now ready to be served.

​Sunny-side up

Need a quick breakfast that is delicious at the same time? Try sunny-side up eggs that are not only beautiful to look at but also taste amazing. Just keep a non-stick pan on heat and grease it with some oil. Crack open one egg directly into the pan. Now let the egg settle and take shape. Don’t spread it or move the pan, as this will disturb the shape of the sunny-side up dish. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder and let it cook. You can also cover with a lid and let the egg cook. Let it cook for a while, depending on how runny or how cooked you want the yolk to be. Once done, paired up with grilled bread for the best combo.
