Ragi, also known as finger millet, is a highly nutritious cereal. According to Ayurveda, ragi is considered a cooling food, especially beneficial for individuals with a predominance of Pitta dosha, as it helps mitigate excess heat and acidity in the body.

As per a study, ragi contains around 320 to 344 mg calcium per 100 grams, which is higher than many other millets. This slow carbohydrate release helps maintain stable blood glucose levels, which is crucial for diabetes management. Also, the high dietary fiber content in ragi slows digestion and glucose absorption, contributing to lower postprandial blood glucose levels.
