Herbal kadhas for colds, coughs and digestion

While winter blankets the world in a cosy embrace, it brings with it the dual challenge of combating colds and addressing digestion issues for many. The season is often cherished for its chilly allure, but often sees a surge in ailments like colds and coughs. Additionally, the drop in temperatures can impact digestion, leading to discomfort. Embracing the winter charm while safeguarding against these common concerns becomes paramount. This is why, our ancestors have relied upon these herbal kadhas or home remedies, which can help you fight seasonal infections while boosting metabolism and improving digestion. Here are a few kadhas that are tried & tested and will surely provide relief from cold & cough while improving digestion.

Holy Basil Kadha

To prepare this kadha, boil water in a pan. Next, add basil leaves, 1 tsp black pepper, 1 tsp cinnamon powder and 1 tsp grated ginger. Mix this mixture well and let it boil for 10-15 minutes. Once done, filter it in a cup and when it cool enough, drink it. This kadha works as an excellent immunity booster. Apart from this, this kadha is also beneficial for digestion.

Giloy Kadha

To make this kadha, grind 1 spoon of Giloy or Guduchi. Put a pan over medium flame and add 2-3 cups of water in it. Bring it to a boil and then add giloy paste in it. Mix well and let it boil until reduced to 1/3 of its quantity. This kadha can help you fight flu.

Cinnamon Kadha

It is quite easy to make this kadha and can help protect from seasonal diseases. To make it, pour one-two cups of water in a pan. Now, add cinnamon powder to it and let it boil. If you want, you can also mix one spoon of honey in it. This kadha can help increase body strength while providing immunity.

Thymol Kadha

Thymol has medicinal properties, which help in protecting the body from many diseases. Many nutrients like carbohydrates, fat, protein, fibre, iodine, manganese are found in it. Many people eat ajwain with hot water to get relief from several stomach-related issues. To make this kadha, add 1-2 tsp of ajwain in water and bring it to a boil. When the water is reduced to half its quantity, strain and drink it when lukewarm. This helps increase immunity and is also beneficial for digestion.

Basil and Black Pepper Kadha

Due to weak immunity in winter, people often suffer from cold and cough. To fight infection in this season, you can drink basil kadha daily. To make this, heat water in a pan, add basil leaves, cinnamon, black pepper and dry ginger to it. Boil this mixture for some time, then filter it. When it becomes lukewarm, drink it.
