Panchayat season 2 gave us some interesting food goals

Stuck in the fast paced urban life and looking for a whiff of fresh air? Then the web series Panchayat season 2 will take you back to the nostalgia of good-old village life. A glimpse of India’s rural culture, this series shows how a simple urban man played by Jitnedra Kumar adjusts with the desi culture. Interestingly, what grabbed our eyes was how he survives his food urges and adapts to the desi style of eating. So, if you too feel stranded in a situation like this, here are 5 food goals from Panchayat that will help you sail through!

It’s raining Lauki

Many of us dislike this humble vegetable-- lauki also known as bottle gourd. This series is all about the love of lauki, right from gifting it to loved ones to enjoying it on special occasions lauki is a quintessential part of the desi culinary culture. So much so that it seems like it's raining lauki. Handpicked from the khet and cooked with spices, lauki makes for a healthy treat, so next time you happen to visit a gaon, remember to try lauki delicacies cooked on the earthen chulha.

3/6

Chai pe charcha

Gone are the days, when chai pe chara was a daily affair for most people. But this series will take you back to those good old days, when everything started from chai. Whether it is about solving problems to chilling with loved ones to greeting guests with something good, Chai is an inseparable part of Indian culture and this series totally revived our memories of sipping on chai with near and dear ones.

4/6

Kheer over cake

There’s no denying that every auspicious occasion calls for a delicious kheer. So much so that people specially prepare rice kheer for their birthdays as it is believed to bring good luck and prosperity. In fact, in the series there’s absolutely no cake cutting culture, rather it is shown that people relish cake as a dessert post dinner.

5/6

Eating together

The rural culture is all about cherishing the little things in life. Even birthdays are all about cooking together and eating home cooked food with loved ones. Sitting on the ground and eating with hands will surely remind you of happy times.

6/6

Fixing burnt food

Much like this series, there are times when we end up over-cooking the food or burning it by mistake and most people end up throwing it away, but when you are in a situation where you cannot afford to waste food that’s when all the jugaad crosses the mind. In one of scenes, the protagonist ends up burning the rice in a cooker, which he covers up by adding dal and achar. Isn’t this a great hack?
