5 Reasons to eat raw turmeric and jaggery in the morning

Winter is here and it is that time of the year, when the body needs ample nutrition to survive the bone chilling cold. According to Ayurveda, starting the day with a small piece of raw turmeric and jaggery can help boost immunity, improve metabolism, reduce inflammation and help in overall well being. Here are a few reasons why you must include raw turmeric and jaggery to your winter morning regime.

2/6

Anti-inflammatory properties

Turmeric is known for its potent anti-inflammatory properties due to the presence of curcumin. Chronic inflammation is linked to various health issues, and turmeric may help in reducing inflammation. Gur is also believed to have anti-inflammatory properties, and together they can help in better healing.

3/6

Digestive health

Both turmeric and jaggery stimulate the production of digestive enzymes, which can enhance the digestive process. Jaggery is believed to stimulate bowel movements and relieve constipation. The combination of these two ingredients may support overall digestive health and improve metabolism.

4/6

Detoxification

Turmeric is considered to have detoxifying properties that support the liver's function. Jaggery is believed to aid in cleansing the body by flushing out toxins. The combination of raw turmeric and jaggery is thought to promote natural detoxification processes in the body.

5/6

Boosts immunity

Turmeric is known for its immunomodulatory properties, which means it can help regulate and support the immune system. Jaggery is a source of various minerals and vitamins that can contribute to overall immune health. Consuming them together may help strengthen the body's defense mechanisms.

6/6

Balances doshas

According to Ayurveda, the body is composed of three doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha), and maintaining their balance is crucial for good health. Turmeric is believed to help balance all three doshas, while jaggery is considered balancing for Vata and Pitta doshas.

Nice but for a non-Indian reader you should have mentioned how to use the combination of turmeric and jaggery. It would also have been informative to know if any side effects can be experienced after consuming this combination. For those suffering from diabetes, it will perhaps be advisable to avoid jaggery.
